Launching Willo HQ

A milestone was reached recently with the opening our our national office – Willo HQ.

With 2 years behind us, close to 30,000 km’s on the road, 150 hours of driving, 427 creatively painted and styled cricket bats and close to 400 artist of all backgrounds .. we have a space to call home. We have partnered with the Flagstaff Group in Wollongong where Will attends a disability support program. An old Bluescope Steel building has been given a new lease of life and converted to a hub.

Willo has refurbished a room and with a little help of a few talented artists now has a place that oozes creativity.

Julie Cubbage painted for Willo for our Perth Exhibition and recently spent 60 hours over 10 days painting a 3.5m canvas that would tell the story of Wills travels across Australia. This now proudly adorns our wall and is a reminder of the possibilities for all people living with challenges.

The launch day brought together Wills friends from Flagstaff who made and beautifully presented grazing plates for our guests. They mingled and then quietly sat under the trees to do an art class whilst speeches and presentations were being made. The University of Wollongong Innovation Campus/ iAccelerate Program came along, supporters from Hong Kong, the CEO of Flagstaff, family and artists were all in attendance to celebrate this incredible moment with us.

To see Will amongst this crowd brought a great deal of pride and relief. If one young kid living with disabilities can inspire such a movement across Australia and unite communities to make a difference.. then anything is possible.
